Polycarp

Polycarp is said to have been martyred in 155 A.D. When the Roman governor called on him to deny Christ rather than to be burned alive, Polycarp answered him this way:

"Eighty and six years have I served Christ, and He has doneme no wrong; how then can I blaspheme my King who has saved me? You threaten the fire that burns for an hour and then is quenched; but you know not of the fire of judgment to come, and the fire of the eternal punishment. Bring what you will."

I wonder how much are we willing to suffer for our Lord.
